Technology Plan

Technology plan means a document that represents the very best thinking regarding technology use. The technology plan is very significant for schools. Also, technology planning is used to determine ways in which the curriculum and the learning process can be strengthened through the use of technology, (Frazier&Bailey). There are more than one part of a technology plan, such as mission, vision, needs assessment, and the goal of using technology plan. In my blog I’m going to explain each part individually:
Mission
The mission statement describes the purpose and the plan for fulfilling the school’s vision for technology in education. Also, this part should be included in all technology plans.
Vision
A vision statement expresses the thoughts about what your school or district want to happen in the future. In this part you should consider envision for your learners in the future and what level students will achieve.
Needs assessment
Needs assessment is an evaluation of the technical tasks and functions an organization must be capable of performing or the needs that technology must be able to meet (NCES).
Goal & strategies
Technology plan is very important for students to prepare them to be technologically proficient to meet the career demands and standards of their future. Also, the main goal is increase student accessibility to technology in their school or even their homes.

Technology plan has a great purpose which is enhancing students learning and transmission of knowledge by using technology. Also, there are a good feature for the information technology plan which is to guide the ongoing development and evolution of technology in support of the school’s mission. I believe that technology plan is very important for students to assist the students to keep on touch with new technology which will help them to build their knowledge. Technology plan is very beneficial for students and their parents to provide and maintain online communication software for them to know their grades and homework. The information from a technology plan might help the teachers to improve the quality and delivery of instruction for their students. In addition, the information from technology plan might utilize for school to provide tools that will utilize higher thinking for the students and teach them to solve their problem by using technology.

Network Operations

The educational system in my school did not offer a shared storage area on network for students. I can see the benefit of using this technology as a student of Wilkes University. The educational system should offer a shared storage area on the network for the students to help them access an account with ease. Also, it will be very easy for users to access their documents and the account in any place such as a classroom or library, etc and share documents and other information.
I was familiar with Acceptable User Policies. I had to sign AUP when I agreed to access some educational websites or forum. As a teacher, I think it is a good idea to ask the students to sign the document which is an outline of the school’s Internet users of the network and Internet to define boundaries of their behavior and know their schools rules. Also, students’ parents should be provided with Acceptable Use Policy document.
Since I am not teaching now, I would like to write about my current university’s system. I’m using the university’s e-mail which requires a local client. The students may use this e-mail at home or any place. By reading this section, the most thing l learned is how important using a network for the technology coordinator and student users. In this section, the author mentioned the purpose of using the Acceptable Use Policies which are documents that outline the district’s intended users of the network and Internet. (87). I have learned two kinds of e-mail that may be use in school and the pros and cons of each. As a teacher, I should know the pros and cons for each kind of e-mail to choose what is useful for the school. In addition, Technology coordinators play an important role training users to use the e-mail system properly and manage their own accounts effectively.
