Technology plan means a document that represents the very best thinking regarding technology use. The technology plan is very significant for schools. Also, technology planning is used to determine ways in which the curriculum and the learning process can be strengthened through the use of technology, (Frazier&Bailey). There are more than one part of a technology plan, such as mission, vision, needs assessment, and the goal of using technology plan. In my blog I’m going to explain each part individually:
Mission
The mission statement describes the purpose and the plan for fulfilling the school’s vision for technology in education. Also, this part should be included in all technology plans.
Vision
A vision statement expresses the thoughts about what your school or district want to happen in the future. In this part you should consider envision for your learners in the future and what level students will achieve.
Needs assessment
Needs assessment is an evaluation of the technical tasks and functions an organization must be capable of performing or the needs that technology must be able to meet (NCES).
Goal & strategies
Technology plan is very important for students to prepare them to be technologically proficient to meet the career demands and standards of their future. Also, the main goal is increase student accessibility to technology in their school or even their homes.
Technology plan has a great purpose which is enhancing students learning and transmission of knowledge by using technology. Also, there are a good feature for the information technology plan which is to guide the ongoing development and evolution of technology in support of the school’s mission. I believe that technology plan is very important for students to assist the students to keep on touch with new technology which will help them to build their knowledge. Technology plan is very beneficial for students and their parents to provide and maintain online communication software for them to know their grades and homework. The information from a technology plan might help the teachers to improve the quality and delivery of instruction for their students. In addition, the information from technology plan might utilize for school to provide tools that will utilize higher thinking for the students and teach them to solve their problem by using technology.

Network Operations
The educational system in my school did not offer a shared storage area on network for students. I can see the benefit of using this technology as a student of Wilkes University. The educational system should offer a shared storage area on the network for the students to help them access an account with ease. Also, it will be very easy for users to access their documents and the account in any place such as a classroom or library, etc and share documents and other information.
I was familiar with Acceptable User Policies. I had to sign AUP when I agreed to access some educational websites or forum. As a teacher, I think it is a good idea to ask the students to sign the document which is an outline of the school’s Internet users of the network and Internet to define boundaries of their behavior and know their schools rules. Also, students’ parents should be provided with Acceptable Use Policy document.
Since I am not teaching now, I would like to write about my current university’s system. I’m using the university’s e-mail which requires a local client. The students may use this e-mail at home or any place. By reading this section, the most thing l learned is how important using a network for the technology coordinator and student users. In this section, the author mentioned the purpose of using the Acceptable Use Policies which are documents that outline the district’s intended users of the network and Internet. (87). I have learned two kinds of e-mail that may be use in school and the pros and cons of each. As a teacher, I should know the pros and cons for each kind of e-mail to choose what is useful for the school. In addition, Technology coordinators play an important role training users to use the e-mail system properly and manage their own accounts effectively.

Desktop Support
Desktop Support
After reading the desktop support chapter, I have learned great points that assist teachers and students. Choosing appropriate equipment is essential for teachers to create helpful and significant lessons. Technology coordinators are responsible for choosing and purchasing the technology for the school or district and work with users to develop the specifications for technology to be purchased. Also, they should help schools to allocate the technology where it will be most effective and equitable for learners and teachers. Technology can be costly, for this reason some schools face problems purchasing equipment, Frazier (2004) explains that school districts can reduce their costs of purchasing equipment by using factory-refurbished equipment, equipment that is coming “off-lease” with another organization, used equipment and equipment that is surplus from a large organization that has been refurbished by commercial to seller.
Teachers who use technology in their school should create rules for using technology and then ask the student to follow them. In the ergonomics and selection section, the author paid some attention to ideas that can help students and teachers to use technology in a useful and knowledgeable way. In addition, the technology coordinators should create rules for teachers and students to follow rules that will make the technology ready to use at any time.
Integrating software into education is very important for educators and teachers. Selected software suites should allow users access to the same tools regardless of the students’ location. In this section, I have leaned some options for the licensing of software. Some organizations may choose to purchase equipment including software to reduce the continual costs. Other organizations may choose licenses that are separate from the equipment. This depends primarily on what software packages they wish to have installed on the machine. The advantage here is saving the district installation. In this case, the technology coordinators recommend checking what manufactures are offering for educational organizations. Also, they should ensure an appropriate number of licensed copies for all programs that will be installed on school or district equipment.
In this section, I have learned that viruses cause considerable harm with the school’s or district’s technology resources. Thus, the technology coordinators should be responsible for protecting the school’s or district’s technology resources. Also, all school computers should install virus detection software to protect the computers from viruses. In addition, networks should be protected from viruses by using a special version of anti-virus programs that are designed to provide protection on server environment. Finally, educators should be trained by the technology coordinators to follow the rules of safe computer use to avoid the security threats, as virus or other risks may affect their networks or technology resources.
I have learned that the technology coordinator can assist teachers in choosing the specifications of equipment, which can make lessons more effective and useful for the students. Also, I have learned great steps from the authors that will help me to inform my students to use technology in a good way. As a teacher, I have learned how I can effectively protect computers from viruses, worms and other security threats. Finally, even if I have learned many things that will help me in my school, I need the technology coordinator’s assistance in making sure equipment is properly maintained and repaired as necessary.

Software Selection Form
There are no doubt today’s teachers have to do more in their classrooms by using educational software to make them more interesting and knowledgeable; therefore, teachers should be asked for their inputs about the software .My school does not use Software Selection Forms. After I read the suggestions in The Technology Coordinator’s Handbook, I really prefer my school to use Software selection forms to gather our inputs before purchasing software.
I think that using the Software Selection Forms to gather instructor’s inputs are very significant for the teachers and students at the same time. By using this form, Teachers will able to use software that will help students to understand lessons with easily and helpful ways. In addition, the technology coordinator can play great role by giving the educators information about specific program and how they can use it with their students. Although we do not have the forms in our school, I believe that it is very important and play a vital role by letting teachers choose the appropriate of education software and use them effectively in their classrooms.

Great class
I enjoy this class and have learned many things. In class, we watched a video about the website “blog”. The movie was very informative, and I plan to show a similar movie to my student. Our professor told the class about a great website called “Blog”. I would definitely try familiarizing myself with it in order to remain in touch with new technology. Fortunately, we have two coaches in our class. I really enjoyed their comments. During the lecture, we read an article called “Digital Leadership Divide” which discussed the use of technology in the classroom. I believe that this class will improve my skills by enhancing my use of technology in my classroom to create a great lesson.
